One beautiful, crisp late autumn day, I spotted this breathtaking scene in the Upper Hightower area near Hiawassee, Georgia. The dark cloud shadows on the colorful mountains inspired me to sit down and start painting! |
This is one of my favorite waterfalls in Northeast Georgia. To reach this breathtaking cascade, you must ford fast moving (and very cold) Moccasin Creek and continue over a mile on a steep, un-maintained trail. But it is worth it! |
I painted this waterfall in the High Shoals scenic area “en plein air” and then finished it in my studio. It is easy to see why this was a sacred place for the Indians who lived here hundreds of years ago. |
Amicalola Falls has been touted as the highest U.S. waterfall east of the Mississippi. It meanders down in several cascades that total over 200 ft. We visited the falls in late autumn, when most of the leaves were down, and fog obscured the source. |
I was captivated by the golden rocks reflecting through the river onm this sunny early autumn day. The Nantahala River in Western North Carolina is one of my favorite “plein air” painting locations. |
